St. Leonard's an inspiration

Peel Region continues to strengthen its partnership with St. Leonard's House by providing $1 million in federal funding for a new housing project.
Bob Yamashita, Manager of Homelessness and Housing Initiatives Co-ordination, made the announcement at a special club meeting at St.Leonard's House last week.
He praised the work of St. Leonard's.
"They are patient, non judgemental and they are there when we need them," he told the club.
Bob said the largest contributors to homelessness was a lack of tolerance and a lack of community.
"I don't know my neighbor," leads to a significant breakdown in community. "We need to learn from the diversity evident in this room today - we need to learn compassion and tolerance."
Despite downloading, Bob says community partnerships can make a difference.
"Nothing happens for people without housing. They can't stabilize and get their lives together. Governments are time-bound and that's why we need partnerships like St. Leonard's if we hope to be successful."
