Regen
Spent $4300 great help from Mike and Vijay. Barbeques every Friday from the month of August, Luisa did a great job with the barbeque. Barbeque is staffed for this coming Friday, but folks are needed for August 28th, barbeque and shopping We are running out of money so Dittie sounded the call for ideas to support the continued funding
Regular activities
We are going back to funding Sept 14th – we will be doing live meetings with the ability to Zoom in

Johrita Solari, Rotary International Vice President 2020-2021 and member of the Rotary Club of Anaheim, California was our guest speaker “Johrita is Co-Founder, board chair and Chief Visionary Officer of Solari Enterprises, Inc., a full-service property management company employing 300 team members who specialize in the management of more than $1B of affordable multifamily housing. The company, which she co-founded with her husband, Bruce, was inspired by Rotary’s guiding ethical principles, with The Four-Way Test hanging in the lobby for every team member to see as they come into work. She works together with her husband and daughters to create a working environment with a high level of ethics and integrity. She has served in many capacities on community and industry boards.
 
Johrita joined Rotary in 1993 as a proud member of the Rotary Club of Anaheim, California, and served as governor of District 5320 in 2010-2011. As governor, she organized the district’s first million-dollar dinner fundraiser for The Rotary Foundation and helped her district become the second known district in the world consisting of 100% Paul Harris Fellow clubs. She has served as training leader at the 2014 and 2015 International Assemblies, chair of the 2015 Institute for Zones 25/26 and on the committee for The Rotary Foundation’s Peace Major Gifts Initiative.
 
Rotary plays an important role in the lives of the Solari family. Johrita, her husband Bruce, and their two daughters, Gianna and Tressa, are all past club presidents and with their son-in-law, Reece, are active supporters of The Rotary Foundation. Johrita and Bruce are members of the same Rotary club and support the Foundation as Paul Harris Fellows, Major Donors, and members of the Arch Klumph Society. Johrita is currently a Director and Vice President of Rotary International, the fourth woman to hold this office, while her daughter Gianna is the Governor of District 5320, making it the first time in Rotary history that a mother and daughter would serve in these two leadership roles simultaneously.”
 
Special Speaker Rotarian Johrita Solari, focus : was to bring the message of purpose as the means to drive the involvement, change and the agility required to evolve with the reality of the new world after the pandemic The key points in the message:
  1. Start with why? All great leaders knew why they did what they did. It’s important to understand why, what is the purpose of your efforts, what is the purpose of Rotary:
  2. These are no unprecedented times, it a time to re-invent yourself; So we have to figure out how to adjust and re-invent to the shift in business. The question is not only how we will get through but how we will adjust and re-invent to exploit this. The video speaks on how to adjust your business to preserve our existence. So, the focus is not merely what you do but why you do it, if we figure out the why then we can change and adapt to meet the why.
  3. Johrita mentioned how our club has re-invented itself to create a new norm to take advantage of electronic meetings. Our increasing ability to adapt will continue create an impact on the world if we keep our focus on why we do what we do. This focus on the why will take us into the next spere of Rotary

  5. Badar – how has her business and the club pivoted due to the pandemic.; Answer: Use of virtual platforms has been an enabler to connect ore, train more, this is basically the same impact in their Rotary club
  6. John Lomax (indigenous club rep (HIP)) – Rotary Int. commitment to the indigenous group. Answer: there is a diversity statement and Rotary is committed to working at all level
  7. Michael Lawrie – Question on the 7th are of focus – Environment; Trustee has formed a taskforce to look at all areas of focus this will presented at the next convention  
  8. Nagwa Abou El-Naga – Interactors and Rotaractors – Please share what has been done in your district. They are working alongside with Rotarians in all areas of charity; they are part of the organizing team of the November institute that is coming up
  9. Grace Okaro Question on the distribution of help – this will go offline
  10. Treasurer Peter Ward: Commented on the benefit of more women and folks from other countries in our club  Johirta agreed  on the benefits of diversification
  11. Vice President Uche how did you achieve 100% Paul Harris commitment. Johrita mentioned it was a group effort and focus of the leadership team ; president and district governors, communicated and supported the district members in getting to the participation goals

Badar commented on the Rotary clubs involvement with the Lebanese efforts. Doug Vincent gave an update of the effort with the Beirut club we can see the updates on Facebook.
