South American adventure

For the fifth year, a team of students from North Park Secondary School will have the cultural experience of a lifetime in Paraguay.

Melanie Consentino thanked our club on Monday for contributing to the school's International CO-OP program.
Now in its fifth year, this program brings various members of the community together; celebrates the accomplishments of young leaders; acknowledges the contributions of the business community to our youth and helps raise funds to enable 25 young people to give time and energy to a developing country, Melanie told the club.
The students, age 15-19, will travel to Paraguay, South America for four months under the leadership of Mr. Jon Ruhnke,Teacher/Co-Ordinator at North Park Secondary School in Brampton.
This international co-op experience is organized through AFS/Interculture Canada.
During the four months, some of the students will be placed in schools to help teach underprivileged children while others will help as medical assistants.
A.F.S. Interculture Canada reaches into 54 countries and is recognized by the United Nations and UNESCO.
