Sheridan President our guest speaker

Guest Speaker Jeff Zabudsky, President of Sheridan College, was introduced by Bryan Dawson.
Jeff started his working career with CHCH-TV newsroom in Hamilton and then moved to CJRT-FM radio in Toronto.
Jeff's introduction to the Canadian college system came in 1995 when he joined Ryerson Polytechnic University in Toronto as Project Development Officer. From Ryerson Jeff's career took him to Nova Scotia Agricultural College, The Northern Alberta Institute of Technology and Sault College of Applied Arts and Technology, before coming to Sheridan this past February.

Jeff spent 5 years as President and CEO of Red River College of Applied Arts and Technology in Winnipeg. A community-minded person, Jeff believes in giving back to the individuals and business with which he interacts as well as to the thousands of students that he serves.
The proud father of 3 girls, Avery, Alison and Olivia. Jeff and his wife have recently taken up residence in Oakville.
Jeff spoke in detail about Sheridan College. Students enrol for post graduate certificates after an undergraduate degree to obtain skills for a particular job. Sheridan grants a Bachelor of Applied Degree, BAA.
Sheridan is vocational oriented and builds seamless pathways and consistency for their student training purposes. Public policy is a priority. There are new skills on demand in the new economy. There is a priority to re-invent jobs of today and tomorrow.
Jeft thanked Rotary for the past donation of $250k. Technological advances result in new kinds of jobs. Enrolment is growing in Sheridan. New campus is being built in Mississauga. Phase 1 will have 2,000 students and Phase 11, 5,000 students.
There are 7,000 full-time students in Brampton and 8,000 in Oakville. Brampton is growing and will have more students than Oakville in the future. There are 35,000 part-time students in continuing education and life long learning sessions. Demographics of student body is aging.
The mission of Sheridan is to be Innovative, Creative, Collaborative (work in teams) and Applied learning (work related). Certificate and Diplomas are awarded and there are also 4 year degree courses.
