Sheridan on the move

Special guest at last week's meeting was the Hon. William Davis. He was asked to say a few words. He was delighted to be at Rotary, his father use to be a member of this club. It’s wonderful to have Sheridan College Brampton Campus named after him.
President Dennis made a presentation of $50,000, on behalf of the Rotary Club of Brampton, to Sheridan College, now a total of a quarter million dollars have been given to Sheridan Davis Campus here in Brampton.
Speaker Jeff Zablusky is the President of Sheridan College, Brampton. He has been with Sheridan for two and a half years after serving in many other colleges and universities in this country.

It’s a great privilege to be here and he is honoured with the great gift being bestowed which is making a huge difference in the lives of many students.
Jeff thanked Mr. Davis for being here today. Sheridan’s 50 year anniversary will be celebrated soon. Sheridan began as a small campus in Mississauga and now meets the needs of over 20,000 students. There are more than 120 different programs. Sheridan is the highest in the system and employment is also the highest in the system. There are four campuses, two in Oakville, the Brampton campus is the largest and Sheridan has a growing presence in Mississauga.
Sheridan College was recognized as the top school in the world in animation and design. Sixty Sheridan graduates were involved in eleven feature films in Hollywood.
Jeff is pleased in the growth in bachelors, one of the few colleges to offer BA programs. They now have twelve BA programs. Sheridan continues to remain focus and very practical and are pleased with the growth of those credentials. 18% of student here are studying on a student visa, coming to us from around the world. Students have the opportunity to work and can apply to become citizens. Sheridan is becoming a Hub for citizenship development.
Sheridan’s journey has been one of evolution that has taken place and continues to take place. Sheridan will maintain a strong focus on practical and applied learning.
