Sheila inducted as President
Sheila Winsor was inducted two weeks ago as The Rotary Club of Brampton's first woman president.
"It's a tremendous honour to be president of this club. It's a double honour that I am the first woman," Sheila said.
Sheila played down being the first woman president. "I don't expect I will be the last. What's important is maintaining the legacy Rotary has left in our community and building on it so that we continue to play a vital role of service to the citizens of Brampton."
Sheila has been a member of the club since 1996 and has worked in various avenues of service including Children's Charities, Rutherford Bingo, Rotary Glen and Rib n Roll.
"We have been fortunate that we have a solid group of citizens in this club who believe in giving back. We really believe that when we work together we can make our community better."
Sheila said she was looking forward to her year as Rotary President. She told the club she has four objectives:growing membership, raising the profile of the club in the community, developing our first Roteract Club by December and involving families in the fun of being a Rotarian.
Sheila is principal of Winsor Interiors, has extensive education and specialized training in the world of interior design and decoration.
She has lectured at community colleges and has worked for large retail businesses for several years. During the course of her career she has decorated stage dressing rooms for well known celebrity entertainers such as Tina Turner, The Beach Boys and Paul Young that were on tour in Canada in the early 1980's.
Sheila believes that her success comes from both her passion for design and her belief in complete customization. "Our service must be a reflection of each client's taste and preference. I believe in helping my clients develop a unique style, while building on the character of their home or business."
