Following the very informative and inspirational presentation by Kathi Dick and Timothy Whitehead yesterday, I am pleased to send you the information on a District 7070 project, which is also being adopted by neighbouring Districts, included our 7080 District. Kathi made the connection between Environment and Peace. Here is an opportunity to act in the Save A Tree Through Rotary. It has particular interest because of This Red Oak is part of our First Nations history. Here is a message from my friend, Patti Wright from Etobicoke. I already registered and made a small contribution. I immediately got a receipt from Nature Ontario.

SAVE A TREE THROUGH ROTARY
As we all know, the Environment (and of course saving it) has been made a 7th area of focus for Rotary International. We have been working on an environmental project with a District 7070 team that we would like to share with District 7070 clubs as well as other Districts (as this tree is on the border of our District). It is a wonderful opportunity for all to embrace the environment by helping to save a 250+ year old red oak that is part of our Canadian Heritage. This tree is located in North West Etobicoke and it is an integral part of our Canadian Heritage. This Red Oak has witnessed history unfolding as a lookout tree overseeing the First Nations’ Carrying-Place Trail.
There will be an information session on Thursday November 26th at 7:00 pm and I am really hoping to see lots of people interested in helping out the environment in attendance. Everyone needs to pre-register. Please note that this event is open to all Rotarians, their families, their friends, their teachers, their neighbours.....anyone they know. Although there will be a request for donations, the history of this tree is really fascinating! Also, if you have contact with others in Districts 7070, 7080, 7090 or 7010, please advise them and invite them to attend.
