Scott Ching Parade Update

Scott attended Rotary to update us on the Santa Clause Parade. Scott is a friend of Rotary, he is an organizer of Classic Cars and two years ago, was the recipient of the Paul Harris Award.

In 1985 the Santa Clause Parade was resurrected. The Rotary Club of Brampton was the main sponsor with $25,000. If it wasn’t for Rotary, there would be no Santa Clause Parade. This is a volunteer effort. Over 150,000 people watch this parade annually. Without the Peel Regional Police, we could not put on this parade. In 1995 the first night- time parade took place. This year we will be introducing our mascots. The costumes Committee is trying to provide bigger and more viable costumes. We will have a 30 ft. Cookie Tea Crumble filled with helium and it will be flying through the parade. We will also be introducing the Princess and Ladies in Waiting. We will become the complete holiday festival. We are making a festival environment to the downtown Brampton. This is the biggest single event in Peel and the only night- time parade in Canada. Thanks to Rotary for all that they have done and continue to do.
A cheque for $10,000 was presented to Scott for Rotary Club of Brampton sponsorship in the November 19th parade.
