The Salvation Army enriches the community through food security programs. The Nourish Family Food Centre offers families options for healthy food items. Gordon updated us on some of the issues they are having. The women won’t talk to male staff, the shelves are getting bare, however, the grocery stores are helpful to them. The Salvation Army share a lot of food between food banks as they can’t keep stuff too long. The meals served do not have enough protein and they are looking at making changes. People can make reasonable and healthy choices regarding the food they eat, and the Salvation Army will therefore be focusing on quality versus quantity. Some Salvation Army worry questions include, do they have enough food, space, stuff, faith? One of the joys of working with a lot of parents and their kids is that they (Salvation Army) give spiritual support, counselling, parenting and life skills by sending kids to camp. The Salvation Army’s vision is to accommodate as many people as possible and Gordon’s dream is to bring everyone to the table to nourish physically, mentally, financially and spiritually.
