RYLA – Rotary Youth Leadership Academy
Our club is fortunate to have 2 applications on hand. More are needed. Forms available on our website.
Good to share with potential candidates that we have three excellent speakers for this virtual leadership development program offered virtually May 13-16.
These are Wali Shah, Poet, public speaker and one of RBC’s top 25 Canadian immigrants; Brenda Halloran, former Mayor of Waterloo and District DC Nominee; and our own John Lomax, speaking on the Truth and Reconciliation progress.
Do explore your resources to see if you have someone between 18-26 who might be interested. For further information contact Caroleberry8@gmail.com.
ELLEN HOUSE
This is a transitional housing house temporarily opened for single homeless women. Previous only those referred by the Criminal Justice System. Until March 31 the expanded program offers up to 20 beds and supportive services. This is the first time single women can benefit from these services.
A new non-profit organization, Women’s Place Brampton, is working to ensure that a resource continues after March 31. We are working with Knights Table to provide some food items and snacks on a weekly basis. +-As we heard from our presenters last Monday, many of these women are in the 40-65 year old range. Can you make a contribution.
Here are some items on the “Wish List”
Gift cards (no more than $25) for Walmart, Giant Tiger, Dollar Store, Subway, Tims, McDonalds)
New underwear (all sizes including large and extra large)
New makeup or nail polish and remover
Suitcase or duffle bat (to replace garbage bags for their belongings)
Fresh fruit or baked goods
If you can provide any of the above, please contact Carole Berry (905-609-1678). If you would like to help and would live donate a few dollars, you can e-transfer to
In these bleak times, join me in helping the women coming to this temporary location in the depth of winter.
