RYLA 2016 Update (Rotary Youth Leadership Award)

Natalie and Sanjay attended our club to update us on RYLA. These two are very hardworking volunteers. Sanjay is a full time student with a full time job and Natalie has completed her University studies, graduating the next day. They thanked Rotary for sponsoring them and showed a power point highlighting the impact on their lives.

During the week they were there, they all bonded. They spent six days growing and learning. The first days were leadership building, getting to know themselves. They woke up at 7 a.m., did fitness then breakfast, followed by a morning session and an afternoon session. They tried to motivate everyone. Members from all across the District came to partake with them and it was exciting to mingle with other Rotarians. They had an evening campfire to unwind and socialize.

Why was the week important? They learned a lot, hoping to take the things they learned into their working environment. They learned leadership and public speaking. Sanjay will take RYLA to the real world and recommend that the Rotary Club should sponsor more people to go to RYLA. Everyone was different but all came together.
