Runs, hits and left on base
President Bob presented certificates to all the members of the Rotary Board, Glen Board and Bingo Board in
recognition of their sterling efforts during the last 12 months.
He wanted to review his year as President by looking at the highlights in terms of baseball vernacular…runs, hits and left on base.
The runs were all the amazing events that were organized, the excellent fundraising activities, the
birth of new generations and the success in attracting new members.
The club organized seven events that included coin shows, children’s Xmas party and rib n roll.
New generations included youth exchange, Rotoract, Interact and RYLA.
Our membership numbers went from 63 to 62 but we did lose a long time Rotarian, Jack Corney.
The hits were the varied and interesting guest speakers that spoke to the club every week and the
fellowship that all members enjoyed at events like the golf tournament, outing to see the Blue Jays.

Left on base were the re-organization of the club finances and the debate over capital reserves.
Bob described the workings of the club and service accounts and presented summary income and
expense numbers for each account……posing food for thought. He also mentioned the significant
assets that the club owned, Rutherford Bingo and Rotary Glen valued at around $3.2 million.
Bob wanted the new Board and the club to continue the debate surrounding day to day accounting
and capital reserves.
