Al Heaney provided the Rotary moment with his short talk about the Club and its association with bingo. Prior to 1980 fund the Club raised its funds by various fundraisers such as ham sales, raffles, entertainment books and service club Bingo at a former roller rink. Visionaries within the Club persuaded it to purchase the Rutherford Bingo operation and premises which the Club then operated for some 25 years until it was sold. This undertaking allowed the Club to make numerous charitable grants some of which were the construction of the YMCA swimming pool, the creation of a legacy fund and the purchase of the Rotary Glen property.John Mullen provided a membership minute with his short talk on the process of proposing a new member and the processing of an application for membership leading to the acceptance for induction of the candidate. Current membership stands at 62 and Club objective is to reach a membership of 70 by the end of the current Rotary year. John reminded that guests invited as potential members may enjoy two free lunches.
