Yesterday, three club members were "surprised" with unexpected visits by the President and Vice President, Dittie Voegele and Uche Okugo, to decorate them with their latest Paul Harris Fellow pins.Willard and Sandra Burton each received pins with two sapphires, while Steve Robinson received a pin with one sapphire. The President thanked them on behalf of the club, and encouraged them to continue giving, as The Rotary Foundation relies on our contributions to continue doing good in the world.

President Dittie introduced Norm Bindon, Past President, Past District Governor and Director of the Rotary Foundation, Vanora Spreen, Past President, Past District Assistant Governor and Uche Okugo, Vice President, Rotary Club of Brampton, who gave a presentation on the Rotary Foundation.

Features of a District Grant:
Smaller scale, $2,000 - $5,000; short term, has to be completed within a year; local or international; aligned with the Mission; awarded annually.
This year, five projects have been approved. The District allowed $25,000 and consequently we were able to give extra Covid-19 grants.
Disaster Response Grants – We have $25,000, first come first serve; three projects are already lined up, the application process is the same as the District Grant.
Features of a Global Grant:
Large and Long-term $30,000 - $200,000; Sustainable and have measurable outcomes; Aligned with Areas of Focus; International Partner, Community assessment.
Improving the numbers. Our Statistics
Our numbers look good, but why? Seven of our members contribute over $1,000 per year. This keeps per capita high but last year only 10 members contributed even one penny to the Rotary Foundation, why? We don’t see the Rotary Foundation as a Charity, we don’t know that the contributions come back for our use and as a club we don’t encourage automatic deductions.
How can we improve the numbers?
Donate $100/yr; donate $1000 per year and become a member of the Paul Harris Society. Give through My Rotary, cheques to Rotary Foundation Canada, by calling in your Credit Card number. Tax Receipt given for your donation.
