Rib n Roll roars
Rib n Roll was a huge success, drawing the biggest crowd in its four year history. The weather was perfect, the ribs succulent and Gage Park rocked on both days.
"We could not have pulled this off without a dedicated organizing committee and the help of volunteers. I want to thank everyone involved," says RnR chair Rob van Kessel.
The tone was set Friday night with a fantastic turnout despite a bit of a chill. By Saturday, with clear skies and warm temperatures, Gage Park was bulging with families ready for a good time.
A pivotal moment came after the Roll portion of the event when Royal Bank and Royal Bank Dominion Securities announced they had raised $20,000 for Tour for Kids. "The Royal group have been tremendous supporters of our event and we are extremely grateful that they have energized the roller blading component, which has been an anchor for 10 years.," Rob said.
The event is made possible by the sponsors, some of which have been supporting RnR since it's inception.
The City of Brampton, Royal Bank and Royal Bank Dominion Securities, Investors Group are the key sponsors. The list goes on with Justine Blainey Wellness Centre, Lawrences, The Marketing PAD, Trafalgar Breweries, Accurate Accounting Services, The Brampton Guardian, Rogers TV, Meri-Mac, The Rose Theatre and Rotary Glen Wedding & Corporate Events as well as CGA Accountant Ashwani Sood, GMF Transport Ltd, Goodison Insurance & Financial Services, JWS/Miller Waste and Rutherford Collision.
Equally important are the ribbers - Jake's Boathouse, Klassic Korners - 50s Diner, Louisiana Seafood, Oyster Bar and Grill and Turtle Jack's. "They did a tremendous job this year keeping pace with long lineups."
Rib n Roll has become the signature event of the club and promises to only get better and bigger each year.
