Rib n Roll a blast

The rain held off and people packed Gage Park to enjoy the sights, sounds and tastes of Rotary Rib n Roll. Our club raised more than $40,000 for the Canadian Cancer Society thanks to the hard-working committee, a cadre of Rotarians on site and our sponsors.
Rib n Roll was an unqualified success said committee chairman Rob van Kessel.
The rain threatrened several times throughout the afternoon, but never came. The crowd grooved to the sounds of the Mark Ekins Band, the Yakudo Japanese Drum Band and the Beetroots. And Magician Ron Martin capitivated large crowds of children in two magic shows.
Our ribbers Casey's, Jake's, Louisianna's, Montana's, Outback and Turtle Jack's did an excellent job and were serving right to the closing hour.

The great bank challenge, which we hope will become an annual event, raised $8,500 in pledges. TD Canada Trust won with a contribution of $5,000. RBC Royal Bank was close with $3,500.
