Jerome Dawson organized our special presentation on Remembrance Day: COVID 19 Impacted the annual celebration- The decision to cancelveteran’s day in Canada has been made given the age of the remaining veteran and the impact of the disease. The celebrations will be done online throughout veteran’s week, we are reminded of their efforts and sacrifices and ask that we participate online and keep the memories a live. The significance cannot be forgotten it’s a symbol honoring the agreement made so many years ago of the 11th day on the 11th month at the hour. Special mention was made of the contribution of Indigenous peoples, Black Canadians and other ethnic groups that contributed their service and their lives. Special mention was made of the 2 surviving Brampton members that could not attend today because they are in Nursing homes

Uche introduced Parade Commander Henry Verschuren (Hank), musician, writer and special contributor  to the veterans day celebration and leader of the Legion Regiment in Brampton

POINTS: History of Remembrance Day celebration in Canada and Mr Hank’s involvement
He took over the veteran’s parade in 1997, grew to larger parade that includes representation from veterans from all wars. The composition of the parade uses vehicles to transport veterans that can no longer walk. The flag parade symbolizes the folks that were lost we make an effort to ensure that the services recognize the French units, the aboriginal and the Black community the service is now bilingual, we ensured that we recognized the French community the Aboriginal community and the black service man all a represented by banners visibly represent these diverse groups in Brampton.
As a legion we have joined Christian, Aboriginal, Muslims and other religious members of the Brampton community. The focus in on inclusion of all the diverse parties.

Thanks were given for Rotary Service and Jerome brought forward a video recording of Mr Bill Burrell in last year’s interview. The video is the highlight of what it means to be a veteran. He is an amazing human being, that expressed such gratitude for life and such hope for the kinship with the youth. Left us with this quote: “You only get one life so you better enjoy it, don’t forget you only get out of life what you put in”
