Through the efforts of many members of the Polio Plus Committee, a weekend of awareness-raising activities were successfully held. The four activities were the End Polio Now Flag Raising and Proclamation by Brampton May, Patrick Brown on Friday October 22. This set the stage for an Information Booth on Saturday October 23 during the Farmer’s Market. A Fellowship Luncheon attended by about 50 Rotarians and friends was enthusiastically welcomed. In attendance with RI Vice President Valarie Wafer and District Governor Rudy Habesh. Finally, the Clock Tower at Brampton City Hall was illuminated in purple – the official Polio colour. As a result of several donations (almost $1500) received for this campaign, along with a generous contribution of over $6000 from our community charity, the End Polio Now program of Rotary International will receive a cheque from our RCB Community Charity for $7,500.
Thank you to all of you who took time to volunteer, to come to events, or to learn more about the End Polio Campaign. Our President-Elect submitted an article to the Rotarian magazine summarizing our activities. Hopefully they will find this worthy to share.
