POLICE CHECKS – Vulnerable Sector

 

Many members have asked how we might be directly involved with the Skills For Success program offered through the Peel Children’s Aid Foundation.  (This program will receive the funding from our “Show Your Love” auction currently underway).   The very first step is to ensure you have a current Police Check.  The Peel Children’s Aid Foundation requires this to be obtained within the past two years.  Our Rotary policy is to have a police check obtained and confirmed for 5 years.

 

It is a good time to get a police check.  It can be done on-line and is easy.  Just go to the web site for the  police department for your area of residences (i.e. Peel Regional Police)) and find the link to police checks. There will be a choice of various police checks – we need the one for Vulnerable Sector (children and all-ages of vulnerable persons).    I recently got my check  from the Halton Regional Police in 4 days, taking a photo of myself and ID with photo.  (Normally you would have to visit the police headquarters in person and it is more time-consuming).  There may be a charge – mine was $30.

 

Once you have your police check, scan it and email to John Mullen, chair of our Security Committee for Rotary Club Brampton  john@jmullenlaw.ca   He will review and confirm this for your Rotary profile.

 

Then we can explore ways to be involved with in-person events – although we will have to proceed under the pandemic requirements  for some time. 

 

President-Elect Amolak is arranging for a  park clean-up and probably there will be youth joining us for that Environmental project.  A police check should be in place and up-to-date to comply with our Rotary policy.
