Please find below the profile of your bursary recipient.
Anneika Dallas
Anneika is enrolled at Canfitpro to complete a Fitness Trainer certificate. She is working towards her goal to become a personal trainer to help people transform their lifestyle and improve their health. Anneika is committed to focusing on her future and building sustainable choices.
Ashar Malik-Ekram
Ashar is entering his third year at Humber College in the Criminal Justice program, with aspirations of becoming a police officer. Ashar is an active member of Peel CAS’s South Asian youth group and has participated in many agency youth programs and leadership camps. He has volunteered in the past at Food banks, retirement home, mosque and the youth organization One Voice One Team. Hardworking and resilient, Ashar is committed to his goals and his community.
Mya Murray
Mya is going into her third year at the University of Toronto to continue her studies in English, Professional Writing and Communication and Sociology. She has a love for storytelling, and is considering a future career as a high school teacher. Mya is a hard worker who consistently gets good grades. She works as a Don at her University residence and also tutors high school kids.
Tariah Steer
Tariah is enrolled in Cosmetic technique management at Seneca College, after changing programs to follow her passion. This program will allow her to earn a diploma and prepare for a career in the beauty industry. Her goal is to have her own Beauty Bar in the future. Bubbly and outgoing, Tariah has a positive outlook on life. Prior to the pandemic Tariah has been an active volunteer, advocating on behalf of others in her community.
Vantaisha Miller
Vantaisha is enrolled in Sheridan College’s Paralegal program and will be entering her second year this fall. Her future goals are to attend university and law school to achieve her dream of becoming a lawyer. Vantaisha is very caring and considerate with a strong passion to help others.
In Ontario less than half of children living under the care or supervision of the child welfare system complete high school by the age of 21 and than a quarter of those go on to pursue post-secondary education. These numbers are vastly different than the overall statistics of 75% of Ontario youth finishing high school and 40% going on to post-secondary studies. Through the bursary program, Peel Children’s Aid Foundation is committed to changing these numbers and giving more children and youth in care access to post-secondary education, and skill building opportunities to help them set goals and work towards success. We have seen great success with these programs.
