Wendell Brown and Daisy Oliver looked astonished and overwhelmed when they realized that the Paul Harris Award presenters were talking about them. Wendell and Daisy were the unanimous choices of the Foundation Committee for our Club's highest recognition.

On Monday evening January 10th, Rotarian Gord Raine spoke of the Service Above Self of Rotarian Wendell.  Wendell was clearly surprised that he was being honoured. Gord spoke of his dedication to Rotary and his excellent contributions in appointed, elected and volunteer roles.

Rotarian Daisy appeared to be chocking back tears as she responded to the presentation by Rotarian Norm Bindon.  But then Norm admits to being a little emotional himself. Daisy's daughter was hiding in the kitchen to keep her mother from knowing the surprise. Several other family members of both awardees shared the excellent salmon meal at a small out-of-sight table behind the stove.  They then hid behind a screen until the awards were announced.

District Governor John Stairs assisted President Peter with the presentations.
