Our new District Govenor

First and foremost Mike and Marie are a stand for a world that can work for everyone. The leading edge work of Rotary International and the achievements of Rotarians everywhere are perfect examples in showing that our work is a positive force throughout the world. Rotary is indeed the Service organization for the 21st century.
Mike joined the Rotary Club of Kitchener in 1977 and has been very active in his Club throughout the years.
In the District, Mike served on the World Community Service and was Assistant Governor for 3 years. Mike is a Paul Harris recipient and together, Mike and Marie are benefactors to the Rotary Foundation.
Promoting the distinction between famine and chronic persistent hunger to Rotarians and advancing the Children's Summit Campaign which led to the global ratification of the Rights of the Child are events that Mike and Marie found particularly satisfying.
Marie served as a teacher and received her 25 years service pin. Coaching several school sports teams, presenting special seasonal religious celebrations for the entire school body and seeing students achieve what they thought impossible, gave Marie a genuine feeling of joy and contribution.
Mike is President of Nelco, a 120 employee electrical/mechanical construction company which primarily completes work in central and southwest Ontario. Five percent of net income is given to charitable organizations. Nelco is the first unionized construction company in Canada to offer employee ownership based on the Mondragon Model from Spain and will celebrate their 100th anniversary in 2006.
Mike is active in construction association work and has served on numerous boards and committees including Sunbeam Home, United Way, Junior Achievement, Y.M.C.A.; Kitchener House, Rotary Children's Centre, and Easter Seals.
Mike and Marie were married in the fall of 1997. Mike's two sons are currently completing doctorate work in England.
While Marie enjoys reading, writing, decorating, and gardening, Mike is an avid runner who also enjoys reading and the great outdoors. Together they enjoy camping, hiking, canoeing, traveling and exploring the wonders of nature.
