Our Library partnership

Smaller children can now start reading a wide array of new picture books, board books and easy readers; older kids can take advantage of popular juvenile fiction and young adult selections; and palliative care patients now have access to 38 new audiobooks designed to meet a variety of tastes.

"The Rotary Club of Brampton and Brampton Library have been teaming up to provide books to patients at William Osler for more than 15 years," notes Rotary Foundation Chair and Brampton Library Finance Coordinator Jerome Dawson. "Being able to make any patient's stay more pleasant, even in a small way, can make a big difference. Partnering with the Library, the community hub for literacy and lifelong learning, makes perfect sense, and ensures we have a greater impact that often goes far beyond a hospital stay."

Donating items over the years has ensured the hospital collections stay current, worn items are replaced with newer ones, and children can take home books they become attached to during their time at the hospital. Each of the donated items was thoughtfully selected for the three target groups by knowledgeable Brampton Library staff, with the Rotary Club donation of just over $2,600 enabling close to $4,000 in materials to be purchased and provided to the hospital.
