New Rotary Year
President Steve Robinson
The Rotary Club of Brampton welcomes our new President, Steve Robinson. President Steve thanked Past President, Vanora Spreen for her outstanding leadership during her year and reflected on our 75th year, taking a look at all we did, such as Rib ‘N Roll, Kid’s Party, Quint Meeting, Paul Harris events, District Conference, Bingo, Coin Show and the list goes on and on. Also, there was a growth in membership from 53 to 60, a great achievement! With Vanora’s leadership, we now have a good budget and she showed us how to grow.
Our 75th year was a great year for Rotary. We made our largest commitment ever of $500,000 to the Hospital. Thanks for a great year and a great achievement.
Present Steve thanked the Past directors for their leadership. John Sanderson, President Elect was presented with a pin. We are looking forward to working with John. Thanks to Mustafa for his work as Treasurer and to David Clement as Secretary. President Steve welcomed the new Directors, Barry, Chris, Mat, Tim, John Digby, Joe, Vanora and John Sanderson.
What do we do as Rotarians? We do a lot of great things that do not need to change. We do some good work and meet some great people, whether international or in our community. Different skill sets come together to do a common job of helping people. We live by the four-way test.
Last year we did some great things but can we do more? President Steve would like to see more people involved in our Charity and Grants and Awards as this is a significant part of our budget. Let’s take pictures of what we do, share them and recognize each other. We have to recognize when people do great things. If you have the power to make someone happy, do it! The world needs more of that!
President Steve thanked all for the trust they put in him for their President for the year 2016 – 2017.
