Monitoring tsunami relief

The Rotary board decided to monitor the relief efforts of the tsunami victims before making a commitment to provide funds from our club.
President Peter said the International committee will monitor and make a recommendation in the coming weeks, however the board believed there was already significant short-term relief underway and wanted to ensure the money was needed before making a commitment.
Peter said the board was considering a contribution of between $25,000 and $50,000 but following debate considered that short-term relief seemed to be in place. Peter said the International committee will consider the longer-term needs of the victims and perhaps other organizations that have become starved for resources.
