Guest Speaker Michel Beaumier, Director of Corporations for Community Connections, with Siemens spoke about this charitable wing of this corporation which donates used laptops and smartboards.
Its goal is diverting electronic waste from landfills, while helping organizations who could benefit from the donations of these technological devices. Hard drives are wiped clean and original programmes are re-installed on the re-furbished laptops. A container ship will be leaving in January with these products for 100 schools in Ghana through a partnership with World Vision. District 7080 as part of the HIP programme. has also made use of these donated laptops, sending the laptops to students living on reserves
