Brampton Interact Clubs from David Suzuki and Central Peel Secondary Schools visited the Rotary Club of Brampton and updated us on the various projects they worked on in 2015 and continue to work on in 2016.

 

 

Their club consists have 40 plus members with eight executives and they are an established part of the school community.

 

Last year they worked on several projects including:

Holiday food drive, raising 1200 lbs of non-perishable food items for the Knight’s Table

Loonies for Learning Campaign - adopted a school on an aboriginal reserve and helped to buy their school supplies

Me to We Rafiki sale - to help families in underdeveloped countries

Christmas Party for Special Needs

International Women’s Day, Women’s Shelter dinner

Say hello to Syrian Refugees. We want Syrian Refugees to feel they belong, want to create a video that simply says, “Welcome to Canada”.

 

 

Central Peel S.S.

 

Their club consists of 30 plus members with 13 executives. Each executive is designated a specific job.

 

Their projects include:

Vow of Silence, do not communicate with anyone, I am silent. This project raised a lot of money.

Annual clothes drive – goal to deliver clothing to people in Toronto who do not have access to shelters

Clothing and Toy drive for families in need who cannot afford Xmas gifts for their children. Boxes of toys and clothing were collected

30 hours famine – to inspire awareness for refugees. 60 plus students attended, quite a memorable experience

 

President Vanora expressed on behalf of the Rotarians how impressed we all are to see the work these young people are doing and with the quality of young people and their projects each year makes us confident in the future of our community.
