Helping youth at risk

Major Woody Hale introduced club members to a joint project in Barbados where a number of groups are contributing to a new centre for youth at risk.
Major Hale says that Hope Link International, the Salvation Army and the Bridgetown Rotary club are working to develop the centre to provide life and job skills for youth in the city.
The major called his volunteers, many from Rotary clubs, his "sweat equity teams"
"We haven't raised all the money yet but we are under construction and we hope to be able to demonstrate that this centre is a model for sustainable programs in the Caribbean."
The centre is called the Arnold Brown Centre for Youth at Risk after the leader of the Salvation Army. "We are anxious to partner with as many as possible including the Rotary Club of Brampton in any way you want," he told the club.
Some of the programs at the centre will include creative arts, life fitness through sports, literacy and life and job skills.
