Guest speaker Madiha

Mary Ann Tate introduced our Speaker. Madiha Khan, B.Sc. was Valedictorian (2009) and is Rotoracter and Club Secretary.
Madiha spoke very eloquently and passionately about the clash of two cultures. She was raised in Saudi Arabia and is ethnic Pakistani. Both countries are very conservative and follow Islam. Saudi Arabia was described as a male dominated society with little freedom for women. Mahida described her life as a constant struggle between risks and modesty.
She is now a student at U of T (Mississauga) and hopes to attend graduate school in the field of Public Health. Mahida was the recipient of the Gordon Cressy Leadership Award. The Orphan Run is also part of her community involvement.
