Grants and awards chair Malcolm Slater reports that about half of this year's $125,000 budget has been allocated. The committee meets monthly to consider requests for support.
Chief among this year's allocations is financial support for The Telecare Distress Centre, Knight's Table, The Salvation Army, Toy for Tots, Brampton Library, Victim Services Peel, The Lorne Scots and the William Osler Health Centre. In total 63 grants or awards have been approved so far this year.
Grants are awarded on criteria developed by the committee. Money staying in Brampton is a main criteria. Strong consideration is also given to individual requests brought forward by members of the club.
