As a club, we haven’t focused on an event for polio for some time. The focus can be a part of our program for one year. Polio Plus program might be something we could give special attention to. Polio has been a focus of Rotary for a very long time.
President Bob showed us a video on polio plus. If polio is not eradicated it will come back as strongly as in the past. Rotary clubs in the US spent a week in India. When the week was over, 136 mill people were immunized. The job that is to be done can be done, we cannot give up hope. Polio program everywhere requires perfection because we can’t miss kids.

Thoughts about Polio Plus:

-    Great about what Rotary has done for the world, we feel good contributing to the end

-    Polio is a terrible disease, awful concern for people who don’t have the opportunity to be immunized

-    We are so close to the end, not to do this would be a tragedy

-    Money from November bingo proceeds to go towards polio has to be on bingo license; could put on next license. Will look into how this can become possible

-    Have a box where the patrons can drop in money – at every public event that we do

-    Bill Gates polio challenge is ending in 2012, $120 mill has been raised already. If we are going to get Bill Gates Foundation to double our money, we have to accept the challenge

-    Go into the community, $100,000 challenge, get Rogers and newspaper to air challenge
