Fines and Happy Bucks
During the last meeting of August The Impaler and The Bag Meister made a desperate plea for future mercy, suggesting that the Club traditionally selected their 'best and brightest' for the Sgt at Arms Committee. Perhaps this suggests a new career as stand-up comedians?
Unfortunately this reporter forgot that he was this week's reporter until the guest speaker was on.
Therefore it can only be reported that President Ed was fined for something, Past President Peter was probably fined, Norm was surely fined and someone was fined for being late, probably Jim. Some people were happy but your always humble reporter can't remember why. If they send a scathing rebuke outlining their happiness, it will be reported in a future edition.
Fortunately Alex McMillan was also on duty and added this detailed report:
Warren Rasberry ably assisted by Dittie fined President Ed for not liking wieners and beans and poor writing skills (you had to be there); Norm Bindon for not having Marie properly outfitted; Frank Zucchero for talking rudely to his driver with a lady in his foursome; Mary Anne for leaving the Sgt.-at-Arms table once she found out who it was.
Happy Bucks were paid by Peter Ward requesting payment of the pledges for Jr. Diabetes; Ray Gibson for being still only 39 years old; Alex MacMillan for the fine showing of Malcolm Slater, Gerry Atkinson, Glenn Williams and himself for winning a prize at the Kidney Foundation golf tournament (most honest golfers!!); John Sanderson for the recovery of the Shriners go-carts which were stolen from his property and the arrest of the culprits
