FIRST ANNUAL EID LUNCHEON
The Canadian Pakistani Friends of Osler, under the leadership of Badar Shamim and Maureen Sheahan (Wm Osler Foundation) was held on Saturday at Bombay Palace on Dixie Road.
Almost 300 attendees enjoyed the opportunity to network, and to hear of the ground-breaking work being conducted by Dr. Naveed Muhammad.  He is taking medical teams to Pakistan to see how their hospitals work.  (No triage, little waiting time to see a physician, family can attend at the hospital).  It certainly gives thought to potential improvements here at Emergency Depts. in Canada.
A Rotary display was set up and Carole Berry, helped by her husband, and Rotary Director, Joshua Cherian, spread the news of progress with polio.  Only 8 cases this year – 5 in Afghanistan, 3 in Pakistan.
We collected small donations to help with immunisations and gave every donee a sticker End Polio Now.  A great networking and awareness event for Rotary.
