Warren introduced Brian Carmichael, Governor of Rotary District 7080. Brian has been on the District Council since in Rotary Districts. He is a recipient of multiple Paul Harris awardsand is married to Vivian with four sons.

ImageBrian started in Rotary at the Rotary Club of Brampton. We are a unique club in what we do and what we accomplish internationally.

He spoke about changes.  Some changes may include the presidential citation, and possible revisions to RI Policy regarding meeting/attendance, allowing more flexibility. The future of Rotary is in your hands theme may be a thing of the past.

Focus has been on RI for the next three years; are we going to attract new members, are we going to keep existing members? When we talk to 25-35 year olds, they question a lot of things. Why are we meeting every week? A new club in Brampton will start up and they will meet every two weeks. A proposal has been sent up the line to zone membership. Sarnia, Windsor and Hamilton have had one for years. During the last week of March they will get together and come up with an agenda.

We are in for an interesting time over the next few years with Rotary. Rotary has to change in order to draw more people in. We have to understand what the members and the community want and react to it and we have to be flexible.

Bob Cranch thanked Brian for his leadership and for coming out to engage us in these changes.
