David Laing – Bike the Creek
David Laing – Bike the Creek
Welcome to David Laing. In the Region of Peel 987,000 daily trips are taken by car. This leads to congestion on the road and an inactive lifestyle; the overweight rate has gone to 50% which is a huge problem from a disease standpoint. 25% of car traffic is a ridiculous car journey. $6 billion per year in productivity is at loss. Nine tanker truck of fuel has been consumed by these ridiculous car rides (Peel Region alone). We can change our habit and the answer is the bicycle which is more efficient than walking. Healthy cycling is a low impact exercise that any able body person can do. This increases the quality of life.
Cyclists are loyal customers. From a business standpoint, it’s very important to cater to the cyclist population. How do you attract people to downtown Brampton? Have a bicycle friendly community program. We want Brampton to have our own signature event. On Sunday, June 21st, Brampton’s Free Signature Bike Ride Event will take place, starting at Jim Archdekin Recreation Centre 8:00 am – 2:00 pm to the Etobicoke Creek Trail.
