CRCID helps the Third World

The Canadian Rotary Committee for International Development(CRCID) helps Rotary Clubs find matching funds for overseas development assistance, Peter Moore told our club last week.
Peter,a Guelph Trillium Rotarian and the district's representative on CRCID, says the organization is a supplementary funding source for world community service projects where Rotary clubs are participating and raising funds.
The policy is to match Canadian Rotary funds as needed and as CIDA funds are available. The process "contemplates maximizing contribution funds or other Rotary funds together with Rotary Foundation funds."
CRCID funding is allocated towards a priority list of projects, including Water and Sanitation, Agriculture and Forestry, Community Development, Primary Education, Primary Health Care and Micro-Enterprise.
Peter says CRCID is most interested in sustainable development and quality projects where there is a commitment from the beneficiaries, a local Rotary Club, ideally with District support and the ability to sustain development after Rotary withdraws from active participation.
Peter says he can help clubs with project planning, application, policy clarification, reporting assistance and follow-up initiatives.
