Amrit Kaur said she was proud to be a member of a group that was so committed. She said our members are inspiring. Amrit and Bob Cranch each gave their classification talk.
Amrit was born in Fiji. She has been married 21 years with two children and she has lived in Brampton for 17 years. She loves the outdoors, tennis, reading and decorating.
She spent 18 years working in freight forwarding with Eagle Global Logistics before joining her partner Dave to open Brampton Business Executive Suites in downtown Brampton.
The focus of BBES is to support small business in acquiring office space whether it is a private Ready-to-Use Office, Virtual office, or simply a place to have an occasional meeting. They provide professional furnished offices, with a receptionist welcoming clients, and all the services that small businesses require to manage their business including answering telephone calls in their company name and transferring them to wherever the client requires. They also provide boardrooms for meetings, photocopying, secretarial, fax, and catering.
Brampton Business Executive Suites was recently named Small Business of the Month by The Brampton Boartd of Trade.
Bob Cranch is no stranger to Rotary. He has been involved with the club in his professional capacity for many years.
Bob was born in Saskatchewan and moved around with his family to Winnipeg and Montreal before going to university at Waterloo where he studied environmental studies. He moved to Brampton while attending York University and held a part-time job with parks and recreation where he learned how to drive a Zamboni.
By 1973 the part-time job became full time and he worked as a facility manager and later Manager of Facilities. He worked with Rotary to get the funds to add a pool at Century Gardens.
He became Superintendent of Facilities and Programs and in 1984 Director of Economic Development for the City of Brampton. He eventually completed his Masters of Administration at Queens and in 1995 became Commissioner of Community Services. Bob says it was a fantastic career because he got to be involved with all aspects of the community, meeting a enormous number of people.
He now runs a consultancy firm, advising small business on how to work with government.
Bob has been involved a great deal with politicians and says he wouldn't want their job for anything. He joined Rotary because he believes in a club like this, we can get things done.
He is married to Lynn with two children, Amy and Nick.
