Celebrating Robbie Burns
Jerome Dawson spoke about the life of Robbie Burns and the fact that many parts of the world will be celebrating.
Robbie Burns was the eldest of 12, born January 25, 1759 into a family split by poverty. He had a tutor named John Murdock who taught him everything. His Dad died 1785 when Robbie was 25 yrs old. In 1786 Burns published poems, which were difficult to understand. He also wrote about 100 songs during his lifetime. Robbie married in 1788.
He spent the winter 1786-1788 in Edinburgh as a national celebrity. He died July 21, 1796 at the age of 37.

Carol Berry read, "My love is like a red, red rose"; Peter Ward read "The Winder of Life"
Bob McIntyre made a toast to the lassies by reading a poem and Dorean Boss responded with a toast to the lads.
President Jim read "The Mock Lyn Bells" and thanked Jerome, Bob and Doreen for their participation in the 250th anniversary celebration of Robbie Burns.
