BSO on the Grow

The Brampton Symphony Orchestra is "on the grow," looking to nearly double in size over the next few years, says Conductor and CEO Robert Raines. "When the new performing arts centre is built we will need to grow from 45 to 75 members," Robert told our club at last week's meeting.
The BSO has been invited to perform in Miami Beach and Robert is hoping to raise money for the trip. The performance will not only showcase the Symphony, it will help attract new members.
Robert's vision for BSO is to in part reflect the culture of our community. He calls it Symfusion, a blend of different cultures coming together in music and dance. "It will be representative of what our city looks like when it works together. Culture is the heart beat of our city."
BSO has an aggressive plan of growth over the next three years hoping to double its budget from $125,000 to $350,000 when the new arts centre opens.
Rotary is planning an evening of culture on April 14 with proceeds going to the Symphony. A gourmet dinner and evening of music will cost $50 per person. Details are forthcoming.
And BSO's annual gala is May 14 at Lionshead Golf Club. Tickets are $125. Visit BSO for details.
