Bringing back Neighborhood Watch

Const. Christine Judd was inducted as our club's newest member Monday and in an unusual turn of events she was also our guest speaker. She talked about her role, in conjunction with Brampton Safe City, in revitalizing the Neighbourhood Watch Program in Brampton.
Christine talked about a project in Fletcher's Meadows to engage the community in a meaningful way, involving community leaders, schools, the police and people from all walks of life.
"Neighborhood Watch is not a big commitment. It's about knowing your neighbours and keeping your eyes and ears open," she told the club.
She outlined some of the basics. Recognizing crime involves paying attention, being aware, watching for suspicious vehicles or people. If you see a crime in progress - a theft, house entry or impaired driver, call the police at 911.
Details can help police immensely. What direction a suspicious person is traveling, vehicle description and plate number, individual details, like male/female, height, hair colour, clothing can help police in their investigation.
Neighborhood Watch is a way to involve your neighbours, through a night together, regular email contact and even training and seminars. Anyone interested should contact Christine or Brampton Safe City.
