Brian Crombie – Western GTA Summit
Posted by Rita Gayle
Over 500 people from all different sectors were in attendance. Why do a GTA Summit? The west wants in! The Western GTA wants its voice heard. The Western GTA is home to over 1.6 million residents, we deserve a voice. The goal of the 2013 Western GTA Summit was to have a transformational impact on the way we Live, Move and Thrive in the Western GTA. The Summit was organized for three reasons:
1) To ensure that our collective voice is heard on the important issues facing the Western GTA.
2) That all sectors of our community are involved in the discussion together.
3) That the focus is as much on the why and what of our urban design and transit building, as it is on how we will pay for it.
Are we facing economic gridlock?
This is the central question of 2013 Western GTA Summit. The issues associated with transit and transportation not only affect how we move, but also how we live and how we thrive. All three are interconnected and must be discussed together. The 2013 Western GTA Summit is designed to start a discussion about the major issues facing the over 1.6 million people living in the Western GTA. Each of the municipalities wants a say in the important issues facing their communities and the larger GTA.
