On March 11th 2024, the RCB was excited to welcome Ken Spears, VP and General Manager at Boston Scientific and hear about the local and global impact of the organization. Ken shared several stories about Boston Scientific and their innovative medical devices. He described their core organizational values and explained why the company headquarters was relocated to Brampton.
At Boston Scientific, they believe that Everyone Makes an Impact and this occurs through 'connection'. Ken highlighted this by describing company culture as well as telling us three patient success stories to demonstrate how Boston Scientific is transforming lives. Ken further explained how the organization annually brings patient stories to employees, highlighting a patient's day and daily experiences. Therefore, employees are better able to understand patient needs. This strengthens connections and enables the organization to save and improve lives and do innovative and meaningful work.
By describing the stories of three patients trying to manage illnesses such as stroke and Parkinson's Disease, Ken shared three innovative medical devices that are transforming lives. Many club members had questions and it was a very enlightening and moving presentation for all in attendance.
