Two hundred and thirty books have arrived at William Osler Health System’s (Osler) Brampton Civic Hospital, via Brampton Library on-the-go. The books will be shared with patients in Osler’s Paediatric and Children’s Mental Health Services thanks to a partnership among three local organizations.
“For almost a quarter of a century the Rotary Club of Brampton has been delighted to donate children’s books to Brampton Civic Hospital,” said David Clement, President of the Rotary Club of Brampton. “Our support of literacy internationally, and for children and youth locally, is a big part of our Club’s legacy and our almost 80 years of service to the community.”
“We’re delighted to be involved in this partnership, and to see the joy on the children’s faces as they open the books that our librarians have selected and the Rotary Club has so graciously donated. These are great gifts to enjoy for a long time to come,” commented Brampton Library CEO Rebecca Raven.
Josie Condo-Parnis, Child Life Worker at Osler’s Brampton Civic Hospital, expressed her heartfelt thanks: “Books are universally loved by children of all ages. We are so pleased that the children we care for will have the choice to take one of these books home or leave them with us for others to enjoy.”
Brampton Library staff thoughtfully selected books that children of all ages will love, with funding provided by the Rotary Club of Brampton, in association with First Book Canada. Since 2009, First Book Canada has distributed more than 7 million books and educational resources to hundreds of thousands of kids across Canada.
