Rotarian Al Heaney was one of two Rotarians honoured by the Rotary Club of Brampton and designated as Paul Harris Fellows.  The designation includes the donation by the Club of US$1000 to the Rotary Foundation in the name of the awardees.

Rotarian Peter Ward spoke of Al's years of service to Rotary. An excerpt of his talk is reproduced below.

"The Rotarian I rise to honour tonight is one whose unique skill set, character and distinguished Rotary service will show that Rotary's motto, "Service above self" was written for men like him.

A Rotary career of nearly a quarter century, membership on our Board and an eventful and poised presidency speak loud of service.  A quiet, unassumingly kind manner with keen intellect and high integrity speak to character.

For those who are not Rotarians I should explain that in other environs, all this might be taken as exaggeration or boiler plate speechifying, but this is Rotary where having members, no, having friends such as this is deeply gratifying but not surprising.

More than one Past President will recognize and vouch for his loyalty, steadfast support and timely advice.

Rotary Classification Financial Planner, Proposed by Carl Ingbertson (Thank you Carl) and Inducted in 1982. Treasurer and Board member at Rutherford Bingo Project, Programme Chair extraordinaire, Director of Club Service, Club President 1990 / 1991.  Past President Al Heaney, we salute you."

Al continues to serve and continues to be a good friend and an exemplary Rotarian.
