A ringing endorsement

Linda McKendry entertained club members on The Evangel Bells with a collection of Christmas carols at last week's meeting.
Linda is the oldest daughter of missionaries who spent 20 years in India. She has been playing the handbells since she was 16. Her father bought her a set of handbells as a teenager and she has been playing the bells ever since.
These squared-shaped copper bells with leather thongs correspond to the black and white keys of the piano. Ringing them involves concentration and dexterity. The keys often change position and the pitch is dependent on temperature and humidity.
Linda seldom says no to a request to play the bells and has done so for churches and senior centre and charitable fundraising events.
