Public Speaking Competition

On behalf of the Rotary Club of Ipswich your school is invited to nominate a student to participate in our “Youth Speak” competition at the Rotary Club of Ipswich regular dinner meeting on Tuesday 28^th May 2024, 5:30pm for 6:00pm start at Boulevard Function Room, Ipswich Showgrounds. Nominations are open to students in all year levels. (Nomination Form attached-close 14^th May)

Rotary International monthly theme for May is Youth Service. The Rotary Club of Ipswich has held the Youth Speak competition for over 30years as part of our Youth Service focus.  The topic for the competition, each year is the Rotary Theme for that year.

Rotary International President Gordon McInally’s theme for 2023-24 is “Create Hope in the World” He called on Rotarians to work for peace and mental wellbeing.

In partnership with Toastmasters, a recognised adjudicator is engaged. The total prize money offered is $900 for winning students.  The young people are asked to prepare a four-minute speech based on this Rotary theme.

The student and a support person will be guests of the Club on the evening, additional attendees are welcome at a cost of $40pp for a two-course meal.
