International committee activities for the October-December 2023 quarter
We are working on a proposal to sponsor two people from overseas countries to undertake a diabetes education program (1) and an agricultural training program (1). The sponsorship will be funded in part through local Rotary's Royce Abbey Award.
We have successfully distributed a range of much needed medical instruments to Ghana, Uganda and Nigeria. These are superseded but still very usable instruments which have been made available by Victorian hospitals and health facilities.
We are sponsoring scholarships for five students in Pakistan. The scholarships will allow the students to complete their education. Thanks to the scholarships, the young recipients will have better opportunities than they might have had otherwise.
Also in Pakistan, we have also funded a surgical program to improve eye health.
