Welcome to the Rotary Club of Hoppers Crossing.
Who is Rotary and what do they do?
Rotary is a global network of approximately 1.4 million neighbours, friends, leaders and problem solvers who see a world where people unite and take action to create lasting change across the globe, in our communities and in ourselves. There are over 35,000 Rotary Clubs in more than 220 countries. Rotary is a non-political and non-religious organisation, open to all people regardless of race, colour, religion, gender or political preference. Rotary connects you with a diverse group of people who all share in a united goal: simply to make the world a better place for us all. Our motto is powerful and conveys the true spirit of Rotary: 'Service above Self'.
Could the Rotary Club of Hoppers Crossing be the club for you?
Hoppers Crossing Rotary Club was chartered (founded) in 1979 and has a long history of wonderful service both within our local community and abroad. We are fortunate to have a diverse membership with a wide range of ages and cultures that make up the club.
What does the Rotary Club of Hoppers Crossing do?
In Our Local Community
Locally, our club is involved in community activities such as tree planting days and Clean Our Streets campaigns. We assist aged care residents through programs that include visitations and social events.
Our club also has a strong commitment to local residents in need through our involvement with the Western Emergency Relief Network (WERN). WERN is a Rotary charity based in the western suburbs that collects, refurbishes and distributes household furniture and white goods for use by needy members of our community.
We also place a strong emphasis on youth by providing scholarships, conducting public speaking competitions and sponsoring attendance at personal development and leadership programs to encourage, develop and enable young people within our community.
In Communities Abroad
Rotary is a world-wide organisation and undertakes projects on a global scale. We, too, play a role in helping less fortunate communities across the world. Our recent overseas projects include sponsorship of diabetes education and training for nurses in Ghana, distributing much needed medical instrumentation to a number of west African countries and the provision of scholarships to assist young people in Pakistan to complete their education.
What Now?
Our projects may change from year to year, what doesn't change is our primary focus; We want to better the lives of all people, wherever the need arises.
So, if Rotary sounds like it may be of interest and you have a passion for the kind of community service and overseas projects in which our club is engaged, we would love to provide you with more information about the club and how you might become involved. You can do so by emailing our secretary at: 'khurramjk786@gmail.com'
We hope to hear from you soon.
