Community group displays, food trucks, informative talks.
Held on/near Lake Richmond with local flora and fauna, penguin box project.
Its kinda like an old fashioned walk-a-thon

1. What is the walk for?
Mental health awareness. Embracing the fact that community and nature are important factors affecting emotional well-being and mental health.
2. Where does the money go?
Funding goes to a local mental health charity with a small amount to Naragebup celebrating our great environment.
3. When is the walk?
Sunday October 10, 2021, during Mental Health Week
4. How do I register?
Register by visiting our ‘Mind the Walk’ Facebook page, pay the small fee and you are ready to start seeking sponsors

6. Is the course wheelchair accessible?
The 5km Shoalwater Bay section is wheelchair accessible, however the 5km Lake Richmond walk is not.
7. Is the path suitable for prams/strollers?
The 5km Shoalwater Bay section is accessible to prams and strollers, however the 5km Lake Richmond walk, although possible is hard going
8. Can I bring my dog?
They are part of the family so yes, just make sure your canine is on a leash and you have full control. Please abide by Council regulations and clean up any mess from your dog and dispose of appropriately. You are fully responsible for your dogs actions.
9. Is there an age limit for participants?
The event is perfect for all ages, bring your family, friends, and colleagues for a day full of entertainment, history, and fun facts.
10. Where can I park?
There is plenty of parking at Shoalwater and Naragebup. Please refer to the event page for a map of the course. You can also catch the 551 bus from Rockingham train station.
11. Can I get sponsors for my walk?
As soon as you have registered you can start collecting sponsorship from family, friends, colleagues, and anyone else you can think of
12. What should I wear/ bring with me?
Comfortable walking shoes, leggings or shorts, T-shirt, light weight waterproof jacket or warmer clothing depending on weather. Bring water bottle, snacks, and picnic lunch. Sausage sizzle will be available on the day if you forget your meal, with all proceeds going towards event fundraising.
13. Where can I refill my water bottle?
There are plenty of water fountains along Shoalwater Bay and taps at Naragebup, as well as a filling station at the start of your walk
14. Are there toilets?
There are toilets along Shoalwater Bay and at Naragebup
15. When does registration open?
6/8 weeks prior on the event.
16. How do I take part in the walk?
You can register for the 5km Shoalwater Bay, or the guided 5km Lake Richmond walk. If you are feeling up to it do the whole 10km course.
17. When do registrations close?
Online registrations will close the day before the event, a few limited registrations may be taken on the day depending on positions available on the walk
18. Can I register on the day?
To avoid delays and to assist in managing participants it is advised to book online before the walk. The Lake Richmond walk is conducted in staged times of a maximum of 30 in each group. By booking ahead of time you will avoid disappointment and will leave at your preferred time.
19. Can I get a refund if I do not attend?
Unfortunately, no, please refer to our terms and conditions. We do have a pay it forward option where payment can be made to allow a disadvantaged person to participate.
20. What time does it start?
The walk starts at 8.30pm with groups leaving in staggered 15-minute intervals throughout the morning. Please arrive at least 15 minutes before your allocated time.
21. Can I buy food or drink?
There will be a sausage sizzle, cold drinks, coffee, and ice cream available for purchase.
22. Is there any entertainment?
There will be some games and live music
23. How long is the walk?
There are two different walks; one along Shoalwater Bay an easy 5km walk, and one around Lake Richmond along gravel pathways and grassed areas. The Lake Richmond walk will be at staggered times and groups of 30 will be guided on the walk. You are welcome to do both walks for a total of 10km.
24. How fit do I have to be?
These walks are generally for all fitness levels, however the Lake Richmond walk traverses rough ground and not suitable for those in wheelchairs or limited mobility.
25. Is there somewhere I can leave my possessions during the event?
No, you will have to carry your possessions with you.
26. What if it rains?
The walk will still go ahead, please dress according to the weather
27. Is there a minimum sponsorship required?
There is no obligation to gain sponsorship, once you have paid the registration fee you are welcome to attend the event. We are suggesting sponsorship to give the best possible funding to the local mental health charity.
28. How do we keep costs down?
Most of this event is made up of volunteers and generous donations by organisations such as Keos Events.
29. How is COVID-19 restrictions being managed on the day?
