Highlights
New member, Lynne McNamee, welcomed.
Ean, Jan, Ken Roberts and Lauri are heading to Toronto for Rotary Int'l annual meeting.
Venezuela reported polio cases this week.
Gene Calls for 4th of July volunteers.
Jan thanks everyone for their work in the 2017-2018 Rotary year.
Ken installed as 2018-2019 president.
 
 
  1. Jan Sullivan called the meeting to order at 6:20PM.  Patty Henry was the greeter, Earl Simpkins led the Pledge of Allegiance. Alan Feigenbaum led the prayer/inspirational moment.  LB – Treasurer’s Report – Okey-dokey (with exception of 8 who haven’t paid dues – invoices going out).
  2. Jan welcomed Lynne McNamme winkand presented her with Paul Harris award (indicating $3,000 Paul Harris donation)
  3. Lynne gave a brief background and on taking Rotary into the ‘new age’ with technology.  Ways to network, share with common people using technology (the cloud etc.), satellite/e-club (convenient for those who have challenges attending regular meetings).  Lynne invited us to attend a ‘happy hour’ The Public School Restaurant (PS972), 14854 Montfort Ave, Addison, 75254 on June 20th, 6pm – 8 pm.
  4. Jan said we delivered food donations to Food Pantry  (in name of Sam Johnson) and it was well received.
  5. Lynne and Chris are attending REAL this weekend.
  6. Ean, Jan, Ken Roberts and Lauri are heading to Toronto for Rotary Intl annual meeting.  Laura Bush is one of the featured speakers.
  7. LB mentioned that Venezuela reported polio cases this week – lack of immunization.  Ean commented on the 1500 or so in Collin County that have not been vaccinated – by choice.
  8. 4th of July
    1. Gene – workers needed for float assembly on the Saturday before (June 30).  He will email location and time.
    2. Oscar has volunteered his truck and trailer for the float.
    3. Volunteers needed (both Rotarians and families/kids) early Wednesday morning (Parade starts at Vines at 9:00 am).  Handouts with flag program information – will be given to parade viewers.
    4. Thanks to Lisa for design / assembly of float.
    5. Gene to follow up with email on exact times and exact locations.
  9. Battle of the Badges – blood drive – July 1 – July 8th.  We are committed for July 8th – manning the event – 12 pm – 4 pm at Haggard Library.
  10. Gene – Flag Program – we are ahead of last year schedule-wise.  Details coming on committee meetings – soon.
  11. Jan asked all Rotarians to add up the hours they have given to Rotary during the past year and submit to her.
  12. Jan thanked everyone for their help and support for the last year.  She commented on goals as we go forward, strategic planning and what we learned, evaluation of projects and focus on veterans, first responders and our youth.
  13. Randy had done a ton of work – handed over bulletin to Jeff – many thanks for all of his work – as he heads to Colorado for three months.
  14. Ean gave the oath to Ken (new president) and installed him in that capacity. Ditto other new officers/directors/board members.
  15. LB read a list of president’s duties.
  16. Raffle – ticket drawn belonged to Lynne – queen remains elusive.
